During IPL 2025, something unique came to light on the field on Sunday. During the match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challenges Bangalore and after that in the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, the umpires were seen checking the bats of the players. That checking was being done so that the measure of a batsman’s bat should not be more than that of the humans. Overall, the bats of 3 batsmen were checked on the day. However, the bats of all the three batsmen were found to be as per the standards.

2 – Why was the bat inspected
During the IPL match the on-field umpire inspected Hetmyer’s bat to ensure that he was following the leak. This inspection was conducted as a part of routine procedures. Under IPL level 5.7, people take the measure of the bat. Hetmyer, Salt and Hardik’s bats were kept on rule and they continued playing with the same bat.

3 – Measures of the bat according to the rules
According to the IPL rules, if a player’s bat does not come within the prescribed standards, there is no deduction of marks or penalty. Rather, an order is given to change that bat. As per the IPL rules, the measurements of the bat should be like this.
● Total length (with handle) : Maximum 38 inches (96.52) centimeters
● Width : Maximum. 4.25 inches (10.8) centimeters
● Depth : Maximum. 2.64. inch (6.7) centimeters
● Thickness of corners. : Maximum 1.56 inch
( 4.0 ) centimeters
● The bat should pass through the bat yard
● Length of handle should be 52% of the total length of the bat
● Thickness of protective material at the bottom of the bat should not exceed (0.12) inch (0.3) centimeters
